Army worms

We have some nice stands of millet (jap and chiwapa) coming up. Unfortunately, we're already seeing some army worm activity. What's the best way to treat them? I'm afraid if we spray now, there'll be another wave in a week or so. Of course if we don't treat now, we may not have anything left in two weeks.
So, thoughts on what insecticide to use, what rate, when and how often? Any other advise would be appreciated

They are not hard to kill and it is fairly cheap. Yes you may have to make a second application later on if another wave moves through. Talk to your county extension agent (MSU) for the best/cheapest product to use.

How long should I keep at it? Been mashing worms for two hours now and don't seem to be making any progress.

Pretty good.

I'd spray now. They will absolutely devastate a field in short order. They aren called granny worms.

there is a new product called belt. It will give residual for about 18 to 20 days. 2oz is the rate. Its expensive though bout 12 per acre. but you are probably looking at mulitiple applications for armyworms. They are usually bad in the same field every year.
