Social Sec benefit question:
My grandfather passed in January and social security and the VA has been jerking my grandmother around since. She has gotten one check then they cut it 70% if she even gets one at all. Where would I begin to find out how to get this mess straight. I live 5 hours away so its not the easiest thing to do. If anyone has any experience with this please let me know. Thanks

get an attorney. they love these type cases.
Re: Social Sec benefit question:
This is the problem we get when we enact legislation and policy that keeps all of us dependent on the Federal Government. I am sorry to hear of your troubles. Before calling an attorney (which will cost you a fortune), I would call the Social Security administration and find out what course of action needs to be taken. They probably won't deal with you (a second party) directly, but at least you can find out who your grandmother needs to contact to straighten out the situation. It will be a headache because dealing with any government entity is just that.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Attorney will be my last resort, but I don't understand the process enough at this time and these folks are as bad as the DMV.
