I have duck hunted off of a 6 wheel and 4 wheel ranger. The 4 wheel ranger was much better than the 6. The mule seems to be more for the on road\pasture jobs, not the mud and muck. The 4x4 ranger is one bad machine.

Dux, you don't want a Kmule for checking rice.

I've had the 6x6 and the 4x4 Rangers. I like both, but I think you would be better off using a 4 wheeler to check rice.

When you get the ranger stuck on the back side of the rice field it's going to take a tractor to pull it out!

Unless you are on all land formed fields with pads!

If you are going to pull a levee leaper I would have to go with the 6x6 ranger. You will need the extra set of axles on the ground.

dux, you may want to check out the new yamaha. it has more power than either and rides just as good. it should also be better in the muck being its really just an extended grizzly with a cab on it.

Farmdux!!!! You ain't gotta do all that!! I mean buying your "riceman" a 4- wheeler to check from!
Just kidding I know what your talking about. But really. Look at the Yamaha Rhino. Its the thing. Like duck head said its go a 660 versus the 499 in the polaris, an independent rear end, lighter weight, cheaper, locking front end differential, all kinds of goodie.

FARMDUX, I've had a 4x4 Ranger for 2 hunting seasons now & have put some 200 hours on it & it is one bad machine. It's best attribute is it's ability to carry unbelievable amounts of stuff. I have only gotten it stuck one time & that was in ruts that would high center any atv. It goes as well as any 4 wheeler that I've ever been on. It's 500 cc engine is by no means underpowered. I can't speak for the Mule or the Rino or any of the other vehicles out there....but I can definately speak for the 4x4 Ranger, & it is a Great vehicle !!

I have a mule and I huntungbuddy of mine has a Ranger (both a 4x4 and 6x6). As far as going places the mule has gone everywhere the Ranger has, flooded fields, swamps, and woods. The performance in my opinion is the same. the difference is in the little convince things. The gas spout on the mule is under the rear bed and it is hard to fill it without raising the bed. The ranger's is easy to get to under the passenger seat and the gauge is easy to see. the front stoarge compatment on the mule cannot be used effectively when you have a windshield installed. I believ that the ranger front storage compartment opens the opposite way and thus can be used when a windshield is used.

As far as the Rinho goes, with bucket seats the is no room for a third rider. With the mule is is a comfortable with two adults and a child with the bench seat. same for the ranger.

The agriculture department at my community college had 4 mules and those things were TOUGH. We used them mainly for mapping field boundaries with GPS and for grid soil sampling. As you could probally guess, when you combine a couple 18-20 yr olds, a four wheeler, and mud, theres gonna be some playing involved. They stood up to just about every kind of abuse you could think of.

Dux come by Shelby and get my rhino and take it for a spin. I drove all of the vehicles mentioned and the rhino beats them hands down. Power, suspension, speed, and weight.
