Sled blind question
Sled blind question
Got the blind drawn out and everything. Be going into a rice field.
Question is how would I make the sled on this joker to pull behind 4wheeler? It need to be 1.5 feet off the ground also. All wood build so will be a little heavy im sure. This will keep me from having to set 4x4 in the ground and mount it on top of there.
Needing to know the best way to build sleds for this thing.
Thanks

Re: Sled blind question
I bet metal sleds bolted to the blind would do better.
Re: Sled blind question
Try conduit. Alot stronger than you think and won't rot or rust, besides the welds years down the road. Do galvanize pipe if you want it to last even longer. Have some pics I can email you of ours, it's all conduit with wood floor. Maybe you could use our idea for the actual sled part

What I was looking at now. I have some gas line pipes that are 2in thick which I can get the corners that are angled for it.
Have another option also. Have a seado trailer axle I can use to put on it and then take the axle off when I get it in the field

Re: Sled blind question
Mine are made out of tailpipe. The floor is 24" off the ground and no trouble moving with a 4-wheeler.
Re: Sled blind question
use either a 2*12 and turn it on its side or use some kind of pipeb and angle the ends. take you a piece of cable. and tie at the end of the sled blind so you can just drop it over your ball and go. hopin to get pics of mine this weekend. i'll send them over to ya

Re: Sled blind question
Takes a beast to pull a heavy blind with narrow skids through wet gumbo. I like 4-6" flat metal.

Re: Sled blind question
I'm pretty sure he's talking about long pieces of metal 4-6" wide and maybe a 1/4 " thick with a bend on each end. Imagine a water ski but longer and made of metal.
Re: Sled blind question
Ok I understand now.
How about attaching it to like 4x4 posts stick down under floor?

Re: Sled blind question
I would forget wood if you are going to be moving it. Will get weak on you eventually.
Yes, that is what I meant by flat metal.

Once its in it's in there. Wont need to take it out after season. That's why ill need it on sleds of some sort just to get it in.

Re: Sled blind question
If you're going to go through the trouble of attaching sleds so you can take the blind in and out, why not find a way to attach them permenatly? It's been my experience that the ducks seem to always want to be at the other end of the hole, and it would sure be nice to be able to move where the ducks want to be.

Re: Sled blind question
Well the pit is on the other side of the field from where this one is going. So last year we hunted the pit and did good. Well we were only catching the birds that didnt want to go where the others were at. Also the farmer doesnt mind me leaving it in there either.
Thats why I say when its gets in its in there!

Re: Sled blind question
Is it possible to just put it on a trailer and carry it out there after harvest while it's still dry?
