go get a mister twister electric filet knife and be done with it. I have probably burned up every other kind and they are the best out there. The green and yellow one is the lighter duty one...spring for the saltwater series if they have one....it has a bigger motor and will last longer. Take it home straight out of the package and hang it upside down for a few days, maybe even a week or two, to stretch out the cord and make it easier to work with.

I will agree that mister twister is a good brand, but i have burned up plenty of them too. Dexter makes a really good fillet knife with a nice grip, but you gonna pay a little for it.

I've recently started cleaning mine with a fillet knife. It seems to go just as fast, plus it's just cool looking. I got a little coaching from our guide last year while he was cleaning our snapper. He was 19 years old and was making an absolute fool out of the other guys using electric knives! 8)

I perfer electric knives. If you are gonna use it alot then go ahead and buy a little better one. Good idea on stretching the cord I will have to try that.

Once you get used to an electric knife, you will never want to use a regular filet knife when doing large #'s of fish. Now if I were fileting some high quality saltwater fish, I'd use a standard knife. But on bass, crappie or bream, electric all the way. I can filet a bass in less than 1 minute, no skin, no bones. I'm not bragging, it's just that they work that well. If you are cleaning 10+ fish, you can be done in no time.

I used to guide up in northern Canada for Walleye one summer, and an electric knife would have been amazing if I had one on days where we'd clean dozens of fish a day.

I learned to clean fish with an electric knife, so thats what I prefer.

I prefer the Mister Twister also. Its powerful enough to do the job (some from kitchen section of walmart aren't) but it isn't so powerful it cuts through the fish too easy. It seems to be just the right amount. I've only on my third one now. Been using a Mister Twister since I was 14 and I'm 39 now.

and I love the little Rapala fillet knife also. Use one of those to cut rib cages out of the fillets and to cut fillets into little strips to be crispy

i use a pocket knife, filet knife and a pair of pliers. they way my grandad taught me. not much slower than an electric knife and you get more meat. i have over 100 pounds of crappie fillets in the freezer right now. only problem with that is that i am in freakin denver!

anyone who thinks they can get more meat off a fish with a regular filet knife than an electric. I'll take that challenge. We have had several people to the camp to tell us their way was better and out of all of them I have yet to have one out filet us with us using an electric them regular.

I currently use a mister twister pirhanna but I don't like it that much as meat gets between the blades which must be removed or it will mess up your filets. IMO the old GE knives that were made for kitchen use were the best but they changed their design so I'm stillon a phirranha. If we get 3 months out of one we are happy. Of course on a normal trip we are cleaning 100+ fish a day.

I prefer a traditional method. Nothing like doing it yourself.

Ever heard the term work smarter not harder? Yall can have a "conventional" filet knife....FTS when it comes to 50-11 white perches and green trout.
