I am trying to develop a 1/4 mile long green tree slough into a better duck hole. Last year when we were so dry we got a dozer in to shove out the bottom and create a clearer opening. At present most of the water is drained out and there are exposed mud flats. I was thinking of hand cranking Jap millet on these flats. I don't have a lot of experience with Jap millet. Will this work or is there something better to use in this scenario?
What the maturity time for Jap millet? I know Brown Top is around 65 days.

duck Hole Question
Jap millet will be fine. If you live below hyway 82 you would be okay planting jap until late Sept. If you could keep it from flooding you might want to plant some soybeans. You would need to plant the soybeans now.
Good Luck!!
