My wife is wanting to take the kids(2 9yr old girls) somewhere this weekend. Looking at spending the night in Memphis area. What are some things to do with the kids besides the Zoo and Beale St
? Going to take them to Rendezvous to eat supper and Sportsman WH. Any other suggestions? Thanks

just spent a week researching things to do in memphis; took a weekend trip up there this past weekend.
several things that i found that were fun "family oriented" things to do.
memphis zoo/aquarium
pink palace museum
river boat/river walk.
think the pyramid still does tours? not sure
graceland
peabody (watch the ducks march 11 and 5 everyday)
redbird stadium tour/game when season opens here soon
hope this helps;
also lots of great eating places too. ate rendevzous sat night for first time it was good. they don't do reservations so get there early because the wait is insane after about 530

rendevouz is usually pretty good, they dont appreciate when your kids knock over the wooden partians in the lower area though. My oldest when he was two decided to lean up against one and ended up doing a dominoe effect on about 3 or 4 of them. The place was rather loud until he did that and then you could hear a pin drop, surprisingly we got seated pretty quick after that,

We are headed up there next weekend with the boys to check the zoo out, kids museum, and might check out the river boat. Keep the suggestions coming, places to eat , places to go, etc..

Rendevous is only for people that like a strong vinegar based bbq, The Blue Plate downtown is supposed to be very good also. I personally like corkys ribs and their BBQ nachos. Check out a baseball game if the season has started, that is a really nice stadium. The Peabody Place used to be nice but it seems everything has closed down now. The zoo is alot better than I thought it would be.

If you want to eat some good BBQ and are in the midtown area, go to Central BBQ. It's at Central and East Parkway. Dayum good!! We ate there at least twice a week the whole time I was in college.

Definatly skip rendevouse its a tourist trap with ok bbq. Want bbq go to the commisary in gtown, or central bbq. If you are out near wolfchase try jim N nicks its very good. Couple non bbq places downtown,Flying Fish, Kooky Kunuk (old bigfoot lodge) for good burgers, both on second half block north of beale. Butcher shop is good for steak and pork chops on front street. Texas de brazil at the peabody place thank me later.
Zoo,pink palace,river walk, childrens museum is very nice.
