Found two mallard decoys that were faded black and white in the river this past season. Thought Id give painting a decoy a try. I Think it turned out ok.
All you decoy guru's out there give me your opinion on what I could do different, I know the head is'nt just right but im not a paint mixing expert.

Thanks bud. Ill try and post up a pic of the other decoy that looked just like this one when I found them. My wife had some sealant that she sprays on her canvasas when she finishes them and I sprayed it to help protect the paint but I failed to notice that it was glossy.

It made it a little shiney, but I figure ill take the keel off and set it up on a mantle in the man room.
Oh and I guess it was a "SHE" before I made it a "HE".

Damnit boy! No curlies on the tail should have been a tip!
Nice job. I doubt as they are cupped and committed that the lack of curl feathers will matter!

try this on the next one. Paint the head black then only hit the high spots ( top of head , cheeks ) with green . this will give you a more 3d look with shading. Other than that great job on your first repaint. now come get the boxes and boxes of decoys at my house for more practice

oh and TESTERS DULL COAT for a good sealant with no shine. Hobby lobby should have it around where the model car paint stuff is.
