WOW! Chineese ammo?

S&W 44 Magnum accident -

First it was baby formula, then pet food, but now you
should watch out when buying anything from China ,
including bright, shiny, ammunition.

A guy came into the police department the other day to ask a favor.
He had a S&W 629 (.44 Mag) that he wanted to dispose of after a
mishap at the range. He said there was a loud bang when he tested
his new ammo, (Chinese made), and the gun smacked him in the
forehead, leaving a nice gash.

When the tweety birds cleared from around his head, the pictures
show what he saw. Bet he never uses Chinese made ammo
again! Looks like when the round in the chamber went off, it also
set off at least two other rounds in adjacent cylinders. I would
have hated to been the one that pulled the trigger on that one!

that's why I only shoot Remington or Winchester and in the very near future, my own hand loads. The Rem and Win boxes both have big Made in the USA stamps on them.

I don't see why anyone would even want to buy overseas made ammo to begin with.

Those pictures have been floating around for a couple of years. I heard they were handloads that were WAY to hot and chain fired. Supposedly the dude sent the gun back to S&W acting like it was their fault. Who knows what the story really is at this point, though.

Good luck suing a chinese manufacturer.........you can sue the importer here in the states that contracted tham.....but you will never get to the source.

I'm sorry, but I gotta call BS on this. The Chinese never put too much of anything into what they sell, and these cartridges obviously had too much propellant in them to cause such a catastrophic failure. (Even with shoddy Chinese casings, the cylander would have maintained integrity unless there was simply way too much propellant used.) My guess is that these were super hot hand loads from someone who:

A) Did not know what they were doing, and

B) Is the luckiest SOB in the world.

Most fireworks we purchase (firecrackers, bottle rockets, etc) are manufactured in China. Ever have one not perform as expected. Quality control is not their number one priority over there....

Have seen this posted several times and have yet to see PROOF it was china ammo, i have been a reloader for many yrs. and have seen somthing similar in pistoles and rifles from people not paying attention to what they are doing.

I saw the exact same model s& w .44 do this first hand. Cylinder blew in half, sight arm on the top of the pistol flew off and hit the guy right between his eyes. He was very lucky he walked away with just a gash on his forehead.
