They already did this several decades back.. When the population of MS deer got real low they brought in deer from Tx and from up North.. Minnesota or Wisconsin I believe. But that was a different scenario back then, since there were low populations.

The state should allow it. It is a huge money maker. That means more tax money for the state. The deer breeding programs I have seen improves deer heards and makes our state more attractive for a hunting destination.

I agree completely.

I can't see it benefiting hunters, except those that hunt in enclosures, which is a small fraction of the voters. Respectfully, I can't support anything that encourages the proliferation of enclosures.

wasnt there a spread along the big black river (in madison county) that brought in some larger northern deer some time back (maybe decades) and fenced off their land with a nice expensive HIGH fence to keep them in, and then, as Mother Nature does, over time trees came down and busted the fence here and there and the larger deer spread up and down the river and interbred? ive hunted the area and seen deer that just LOOKED different by color and size, but that's just what ive seen (and heard).
anyone else remember this?

According to a close friend of mine, the bill was defeated. Not because so many were against it, most just didn't know enough about it. He supported the Bill - as do I. It is nothing more than "farming." Private lands, private dollars and a good source of future income for our State.
Would I ever hunt a place like that? Probably not.
It would be much like myself purchasing 1000 acres, creating a lake, importing a "Special" type of fish, managing it, controlling it, and charging for it.

Bottom line is this....
If you have lots of money you AGREE
If you are blue collar then you DISAGREE

I saw an article in the Commercial Appeal that said the deer farming bill didn't get out of the senate.

yeah thats what the paper said I believe. But either way I don't think whether you agree with it or not is based on how much money you have. Animals get out of their enclosures all the time. the red stag thing in Pelahatchie or Brookhaven and cows on any backroad in small town MS. Over time the big deal will get out of the enclosures and there genetics will spread...

Over time the big deal (assume you meant deer?) will get out of the enclosures and there genetics will spread...
Is that good? Bad?
This Bill failed to clear the Senate due to many really not knowing enough about it. These State Senators want to know more about how their constituents feel as to not upset the apple cart.
Their needs to be more information provided, and as sportsmen in this State (and also benefactors of these additional taxes), we need to collectively decide and offer support to either side. I have yet to here anything negative (of substance) regarding this inititiative.
