Does anybody have any idea on how to get ice off one of my holes. It's to deep for me to break a big enough hole since I can only get about 5 ft off the bank before it goes over my waders which I found out this morning. The only boat I have is 14ft and I can't get it in there. And can't afford an iceeater. So any help would be great

throw in logs/rocks to break it and get a long pole and shove it out of the way.

I use an axe and a steel tooth rake...break with the axe and move with the rake....sledge hammer works good as well.

If it thaws enough today, take the boat, slap on a small outboard...tie it up good AND stake it with some re-bar. Crank motor and run a little higher than idle with the prop engaged and the motor jacked up a higher than where you run it. Keep monitoring it.
BUT...in my experience, if everything around you is locked up, the birds dont fly well. But everything is situational.

If your hole is froze you can go buy a bag of calcium, (you can get it at some hardware stores). Take it and throw it on the ice, when it gets wet it gets very hot and will melt the ice. I would recommend rearing rubber gloves so it does not burn your hands. It works great but if it is cold enough can quickly re freeze over. Good Luck
