Found this while surfin'. Scroll down to the bottom and look at those maps. Notice the flow of ducks from the SouthCentral part of Canada, across the Central Plains and ultimately to Arkie land.
Anybody here ever shot a BANDED SPOONIE???

haha

I don't know if I'd read that deep into those maps. I believe, what they are showing is the point of banding and the point of harvest, which wouldn't exactly mean they flew in a straight line from point A to point B.
But, if the old theory about the shortest distance between two points holds true for ducks, then you see exactly how many of those banded ducks flew right over Oklahoma/Kansas/Nebraska (assuming that ducks really do imprint and fly the same general migration path year after year)... And with the increase in cropland, specifically, PEANUTS, in that part of the country, it would make sense that the ducks would start to hang out there. Especially with no cold weather, and only minimal hunting pressure to push them on thru Arkansas to Mississippi.
It is something to think about anyway...

Arkansas looks like the hot spot for the band recovery.

It's a Arkansas Game and Fish website. They are just showing their states data...that's why it looks like a hot spot.

I hunt in Arkie and at our camp this year there were only 3 bands, last year there were 4 and year before that I am not sure. But its all those 10 billion people that hunt in stuttgart. Anywhere you have that many people hunting in one area there will be alot of bands killed. Just my 2 cents

Arkansas is a magnet for ducks like Clinton was a babe magnet.

Must be something in the water.

Lets get or guys at MDWF to post point of banding info for our state and we can be just like arkieland.
