Scabs on tips of dogs ear

Anybody ever had a dog get small pea sized scabs on the end of each ear. Was giving my dog a look over the other day and noticed he had the scabs on each ear at almost the exact same place. They are small and look almost look like severely chapped/cracked lips.

I noticed my dog has the same thing. I thought it was mud from a week of hunting but it is scabs.

That's frost-bite......it just shows-up about a week to 10 days later.

Is there anything that can be done to prevent it? Also, do I need to do anything to help it heal?

One of the scabs on my dogs ear has pretty much healed up! He still has one that looks pretty bad. I have just been checking it to make sure it is clean. Seems to fix itself!
