The little pup in my avatar made her first trip to the duck camp, December 13th, 2009...the avatar picture was taken then...I named her Pearl....

She's come a long way since then, she went on her first hunt on November 20, 2010...Picked up 6 Spec's (white-fronts if you will) 5 teal and a Greenhead that morning:Image

Since then has made five more hunts and picked up 42 more ducks and geese splitting duty with more experienced dogs:Image

She's even learned how to handle those geese quite well:Image

This past Saturday she got in her first picture with the duck board at the club after a 15 retrieve morning:Image

She didn't even let the ice bother her too bad the next morning:Image

I have a few more that I may post later...but I wanted these up to give T-Bone a chance to show some pics of Pearl to his daughter...and to say thanks again to T-Bone and Doc & Nash for having the litter that she came from (she has been a joy since she came home with me), AND it also to thank Steve Vires for the good job he has done getting her ready to go this year!!!

She is still a puppy, and we have had some puppy issues, but she is so far ahead of what I expected out of her that it takes the mistakes to remind me she is not even 14 months old yet....

Gordon, great pictures. I have a a pup that was 11 months on her first Hunt last year and we worked all through the off season to prepare for this season. Watching a dog with confidence is absolutely awesome.

Keep us updated...

P.S. good shooting at the camp with that duck board...

Good job Gordon and Steve. I was just wondering last night how Pearl was doing and was actually going to call you today(not like you'd answer the phone :D )....my pup is at Steves and I am going to make a short hunt with him around new years at a friend of mines in Tunica and I cant wait to see him. Glad Pearl is doing great!

Gordon, thanks for posting. It is awsome to see an offspring of Nash and Sadie do what they were bred for. I canr wait till this hunt test season, We ought to see all the pups from that litter competing...

CF sure was her first...she loves it no doubt!!!

I would be remiss if I didn't thank Southern flight for giving me a way to get involved in dogs in the first place, and channel me towards some dang good folks too!!

Thanks for posting Gordon. I will show Raegan, my daughter, tonite. She just absolutely hates dogs!!! (especially some that she help spoil, i mean raise, from birth!)

No words express how proud it makes me to see those pictures and here the kind words about Pearl and where she came from. Thanks again and congrats on a new hunting buddy!

There's nothing like your pup's first hunt.......everything is new......they process everything (trying to identify everything that moves in the dark, that is) ..........."Whoa, what's that noise?"......."Oh, OK boss....I got it!"

'Ain't nuttin' else like it in the world (without comparing dogs to kids).

Nice photos
