coffin blinds?

Anybody got experience good or bad with coffin blinds. I have some pits, but after a while ducks are real wary of them. My fields are really open with lots of water. I know some smart booty is gonna say the season is over. But just like MSU's football program, there's always next year.

They work great when set up right...brushed out nice to match surroundings AND set up with the wind at the back of your head so they land into you....

Getting the timing down on when to sit up or flip the top can take some practice......and the field of vision is pretty weird laying flat on your back...definitely takes some getting used to....but very effective once you do...

Ive hunted out of one set in a berm on the edge of a flooded rice field and had ducks land and swimming within 10 feet of me before shooting time in the morning....talk about up close and personal !!

The kind I used had a hinged top that flipped forward about waist high.....

Good luck they work, but like most anything, takes a good deal of work to get em set up right and brushed out....

I really like mine, I have the duck coffin from Riverside over in Arkansas. It has a lid over the hole so you can stake it down in the field and then cover it when it's not in use. As the other guys have said it does cut down on your shooting mobility and shooting to your right (if you're right handed) is impossible to do while laying in the coffin so you have to orient it to shoot to your left to give yourself the biggest shooting arc. I've tried to swat birds with my hands while in mine, they landed so close. I get a big kick out of being in an open field and seeing how close you can get the birds in.

I have three set up in my field that sound just like the on e gamehog is talking about. They work great, but I alot of trouble trying to stay awake.

I use them all the time in shallow fields. Made mine out of 30 and 55 gallon ag chemical barrels(washed of course). Bolted them together and sealed the with F26. They work great. Awesome style of hunting.

Hunt the edge in the wide open with a final approach, late season ducks love to work where it is wide open..........
