Stupid question....

Postby Jeff » Wed Oct 27, 2010 6:36 am

Guys my life is crazy right now and I don't have a lot of free time. I need to get a shooting house out to one spot on my lease of course Ihaven't had time to build it and so I have decided to let a neighbor build one for me. It's going to be 4'X6' and 5' Tall. My plan is to have it built in one piece and then lift it up at the spot with my front end loader on my tractor.

Does this idea seem feasible? Or is having the whole stand pre built too much weight to really move around?

Do you mean the blind is going to be 5' off the ground, or that the box is going to be 4x6x5.. Also depends on what he is building the legs out of. If he is building the legs out of 4x4 and the sides out of 1/2 plywood and the top out and bottom out of 3/4 plywood I would think you and a couple of other guys could just put it on a trailer take it out to the spot you want and push it up. But a tractor would make it easier for sure.

+1 if you're tractor is big enough it will handle it no problem. We have relocated several big boxes using ours. Just go really slow :D

That shooting house we just built is 4 x 6 x 8 (tall) The floor is basically 2' off the ground with what was suppose to be 6' left over inside but it didn't quite work out like that...I forgot to account for the 3.5" the ceiling rafters would hang down and the 6" I cut off the rear posts to give the roof a pitch. All that being said, a group of 3-4 guys could relatively easily maneuver it onto a trailer and move it around to wherever it needed to go. 3/8" plywood siding and roof, and 5/8" (or 1/2" can't remember) flooring.
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

We moved several big steel frame stands around a few weeks ago with a 80 horse kubota w front end loader. No problems

Thanks for the input guys. I'm more than likely going to have to get this thing out to the spot and stand it up by myself so before I went through all of that I wanted to make sure my plan wasn't flawed from the beginning.
