Anybody heard anything about Saban filing a complaint to the NCAA about Mullens recruiting practices. Got an OM buddy that said something about that this morning. I havent heard anything. I think its funny...kind of a pot meet kettle thing.

been hearing it all week....no idea if it's true though

that article submitted by the Panolian with the quotes from Market and Brassell is kinda damning though...I would expect the NCAA to come a sniffin...

There's an old saying about rocks and glass houses. You would think Alabama would be the last program to ever report anyone to the NCAA as mad as they were about Tennessee's involvement in their own NCAA investigations.

It's Nick Saban...you realize what it would take for the NCAA to F with him? It's pretty $#!+ but it's reality...he can get away with murder and they know it...Don't be surprised if it's all true and he is pushing it.

Brassell was supposedly his #1 WR target with State hardly on the map, and he commits out of the blue...I wouldn't put it past Saban at all to start throwing his weight, especially when the fools tell The Panolian that they hadn't actually talked to Coach Mullen but were approached by Melvin Smith! GENIUS!

Dude, what took you so long?

To the original poster, OM is up in arms BIG TIME after the Brassell news. True or not, they are ALL crowing about improprieties in Starkville right now. At least they don't obsess over MSU like we do them...

I'm not up in arms, I think it's ridiculous to worry about a WR verbal commitment 3-4 months before signing day, and honestly I don't give a dang if he does go the State. I don't get all that hung up in recruiting, if a kid wants to be a Bulldog what good does it do to worry about changing his mind? Most the better players at Ole Miss haven't been the highly recruited ones...I mean heck, Ole Miss barely exsisted after not getting Derek Pegues and Omar Conner!!!

I do think State is gonna get investigated after that article and you better hope Melvin Smith didn't do anything wrong, cause with Saban involved NCAA won't show mercy.

I'm curious now, which article and what was the problem with Smith?

Which booster is your pick to share a hotel room with the NCAA investigator this go-round?

I don't know...go look it up...it's in The Panolian where Kendrick Market said they hadn't actually talked to Coach Mullen but rather Melvin Smith.

You are the one trying to turn this into an Ole Miss thing when the whole rumor is based around Nick Saban and Alabama, it hasn't a freaking thing to do with Ole Miss, but you seem hell-bent on carrying it in that direction...who is the obsessed one? carry on man!

Will he even qualify? South Panola hasn't been too swift in that department as of late.

As far as commitments go, he's an 18 year old kid that some people treat like a gift from above. He will change his mind 10 times and every time he changes a fan base will get their feelings hurt.

I didnt intened to make it an OM thing either. I had not heard of anything until said OM fan asked me about it. I simply stated that.

Carry on....

But that statement about Saban getting away with murder...yeah thats the contridicting part. If I were Mullen I'd be looking at see what all he has done "legally" here lately. Thats a b!tch move in my book.

Fixed it for you. Btw 30 mins ago, a google search of "Brassell melvin smith" turned up only one hit that involved Saban and suggestions of wrongdoing or NCAA investigation -- UM's Scout board. Forgive me for implying UM has anything to do with this.

And I did look at the Panolian, which implied no wrongdoing, that I could tell. Melvin Smith is the coach in charge of recruiting that area. I honestly thought you had heard/seen something I couldn't find.

And if Saban did report us (not saying he didn't), it's only because he beat UM to the punch.

I was talking about Stang's comments to me about Ole Miss throughout this whole thread, I know you weren't going there and I'm not trying to either, just cause I am an Ole Miss fan doesn't mean I can't comment objectively and that I am obsessed...

Problem is Mullen can't win against Saban with the NCAA, whether he is right or wrong...like I said, State better just hope Melvin Smith is clean and/or this rumor ain't true...cause when Saban says froggy all them suckers JUMP!

I think he actually makes good grades...Brassell that is, not sure about Market
