Thanks South MS!

Postby GulfCoast » Sun Oct 10, 2010 6:58 pm

Thanks to South MS, Eddie Sullivan, Bill and Cleo Watson, Betty & Robby Baggett, Bill and Stephanie Bley, and everyone else I can't recall at the moment for putting on the hunt test this weekend. I know it was a mad scramble for new leadership to pull off a hunt given the horrible weekend you were dealt and the iffy numbers of pre-registered dogs, but you all did a great job and pulled it off!

Karen Klotthor and I would like to thank Richard (Sat) and Jason (Sun) for being such great marshalls, you guys worked like troopers! South MS had great bird boys and plenty of folks willing to jump in and do whatever. Kenny Girot and Bill Perkins in particular were a huge help to us on Sunday.

Thanks to Alan Sandifer/Copiah Creek for running our unruly 'hound while SME and I were sitting in the chair. We really appreciated it!

Congratulations to everyone that owns or handled a dog that titled, Marty, Kathy, Mr. Jack, Copiah Creek, Greenhead22, TravisD, BarryB, Kenny Girot, Kevin Phillips and anyone I am forgetting. Kenny Girot now has a bench champion/HRCH/MH, and I am betting there are NOT many of those running around.

BarryB's young dog Ruby went from her HR title on Saturday, and never having picked up a triple, to just slamming a pretty "big dog" finished test on Sunday, so if you see Barry, tell him "attaboy!" We saw lots of great dogs and good dog work this weekend, and no matter the final score, it was a distinct pleasure to get to hunt with each and every one of you.

I will second the thanks. I got to run Saturday and had a blast. Great test and great people. It was great to meet Eddie and the guys down there. I really appreciate them sticking to it and putting the test on with the grand going on.

Judges:
The test were set up well. Awesome finished land test. Both land and water seasoned were great. Loved the land marks in seasoned. Also who couldn't enjoy running started under Miranda dye. Can you believe we had 2 started judges that were women, 1 seasoned judge and 1 finished both women. They were incredible.

The "THANK YOU" goes to you guys. Without dogs to run you can't have a test. We were on the verge of having to cancel and handlers you stepped up. This was about my squillionth hunt test but the new offices and members first one or so and I think they handled thing well. A few bumps in the road makes for a good learning process. Thanks to all who particapated, owners, handlers, workers, and our judges.

Thanks to Mr. Eddie, the new officers, club members, including the 'bird technicians', and the Judges, for a job well done. South MS was very fortunate to have the Major family allow the club to use their property. The grounds were beautiful and very picturesque. These tests will be marked in my memory for a long time since RUBY got her HR title and passed her first finish test. This was "my Grand" weekend for sure. It was made even more special because of the people we met.

Barry B

PS: Ms Marianne thinks we were so successful only because she was there. Now she thinks she has to go all the time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could only run Saturday. The club members, judges and the grounds were all superb. I intend to run both days next time.

I'd like to thank all of the judges for being there and doing a great job. This was my first hunt test to be a handler, couldn't have asked for better judges. Eddie, Bill, Chris, Erik, Lee Micheal, Robby, Macy, Trey, Jason, Richard, all helped out tremendously to make this weekend a huge success for our club and for the future. Look forward to seeing everyone at future tests either at the Majors/Lee Micheals or at West MS, Magnolia, Bay Area, Lower Alabama, Black Warrior, and any other club that is within a reasonable distance. Thanks again, won't forget the experience any time soon.

Our bird technicians were a bit confused when the first handler jumped in the pond after titling his dog. After that, they just took a break under the trees when someon yelled "title." Gussie did seem to think it was great fun when the whole "family" jumped in . . . she just wanted to do it again. Congrats, Marty & Kathy! Good job, both of you. :D

Brett, you sound so surprised that us little ladies know how to judge. We can get in there and get dirty and play with dead birds just like you big strong guys.
Glad you had a good time.

From one of them ladie judges.
