just bought a new dog box, no fans though. does anyone know of a good place to order a fan or 2 to mount to the box

Go to your local auto supply store and get a after market radiator fan. These things really move some air!

so hard wire the radiator fan and mount it on the box ? or how would you recommend setting it up

What kind of box and how many holes?

Bilge blower fans from a boat shop work well... but they are LOUD. dogs come out with a blown dry look! travis

Here is one idea...has worked well for me. 10" radiator fans available from any auto parts store. Wire them to blow IN or OUT....your choice.

Note the expended metal in between the fan and the dog box. Those blades are sharp.

Ken has the idea. From that scenario you can cut holes in the box to fit, if neccessary. Either front or back. Hard wire or set up with accessory plug in that can be removed.

I did this with a radiator fan on top of each hole and put them into top storage of the box. Put in some toggle switches from bass pro on side of box and hard wired to main battery with fuse and ground to frame of truck. Those fans move a lot of air.

I cut out the back and put wire in front of the blades and wired a toggle switch to the side of the box to cut it on and off. The battery I have in the back of the truck is a deep cycle trolling battery and will run two fans 3 days solid without a charge so a weekend hunt test your good to go! Mine I have blowing out so if a dog gets in a little damp it dries him off real quick.

yes they move air but they also put a huge strain on your normal truck battery and will eat it up. A normal battery is not designed to be drained and charged back up over and over again and will shorten the battery life. I would look into putting on a rehostat switch so you can have a low med and high. I bought a gel battery on my last truck and will do the same or get a separate marine grade battery for the fans when this standard battery hits the wall. t

If you are going with only one battery this way, get a deep cycle that also has good cranking amps. You can also hook up a second battery and use an isolator to charge it off of the generator and always have your cranking battery ready to go.

yeah you are right T, i failed to mention that i put a deep cycle marine battery beside the box in the bed to run it.

My Ainley box is on my new truck and had a place for a second battery under the hood so I put a deep cycle there and had the dealership wire it proper for me.
