Next week i have a class down there and i'm lookin for the do's and dont's around there.

Well i can only speak from experience.. Probably a whole lot more than you might want..

Whale of a place and the people are coon ass crazy... But i like it..

Cafe Dumond for breakfast, that's cheap... Got to go to Pat Obrians and have one hurricane...

Should be free music playing around jackson square...

Ya gotta check out the market and of course the food and drinks. The have an awsome aquarium and zoo...may want ta keep a coupla ones handy for the bums...remember where you are, dont wonder around drunk and or lost, expecially after dark...not that I would know anything about that

A night in Jail or the mourge if you go "out of bounds" in 'da Quarter! Stay in the tourist areas and you should be fine. Undercover cops and uniformed guys all around. Main Bar at Pat O's is the cheaper of the 3 in there. Get your drink in there and then go walk out into the courtyard for the sights!

Trouble

Where is the class? Can point you in the direction of some cheap eats depending on where you're at. Also, if you want to see ~1,000 tree ducks leave the roost, I can tell you where/when (it's in the city). I'd ride the street car, just to say you did it, plus the temps are awesome for doing it right now. There are plenty of good places to have a beer depending on where you are gonna be. Can get some oysters too.

theres always some free music and drink specials goin on in the small bars. Famous Door is usually a fun place. No cover either... Pat O's is good if you can get a seat without having to tip a seater real good. Fun place and you don't have to sspend a fortune. Remoulades (spelling) is on bourbon and its a good place to eat and its not expensive. Stay at a hotel in business district for cheaper prices and ride the trolley to wherever you wanna go. Don't get scammed by the dudes flippin cards or anything like that on the street. They always win and take your money.

I'll be down there next week as well. What are you going for, and where will you be?

And I'll add, don't talk to anybody on the street. If somebody approaches you, you can be sure they're looking to take your money. They like to bet you they can tell you where you got your shoes....just keep walking. Avoid those guys and stick to the tourist joints and you'll have a good time.

If it's the place I'm thinking of you will be north of the causeway so u will probably stay somewhere in Slidell
