Is it just me or does the Duck population on Ross Barnett seem to be down from this time last year? I have been talking to people up North(Maine, not North MS) and they say that the Duck and Goose numbers are pothetic compared to last year. I also have talked to a source in Newport, AR and he says the same thing about his area. I know it is hot but I remamber it being hot last year too. What is up? If things dont pick up I will be sitting in a deer stand opening day of Duck season.

In my humble opinon, I believe the reason for fewer ducks this year is that there is more water for them. Last year, I saw a ton of birds, I began seeing them during teal season. This year I only saw a hand full teal. They were hung up in north Miss. The big ducks may not be here, but I'll be sitting in my blind on opening morning just to the see the sunrise and the dekes bobbing.

CM ducks
EM R not duck
OSAR
CMwangs.

Have a good and safe season.

Hey Mallardbuster, I dont quite understand the weekend hunter comment. I hunt almost everyday of the season. I just am not seeing the numbers I saw last year at this time. I know they will get here. I am just trying to lock in the best place to get a quick limit on opening day. Its hard to stay out there long when the temps get up and the deer are moving.

Well MY sources tell me that due to the crack-down on terrorist activities, the border crossings are REALLY backed-up......so it's takin' awhile to process all the 85 some-odd million applications for temporary visas for all the ducks and gooses.

Two more days and counting
