Masoli news
Ok guys I have a question(and for the OM people, and let me preface this by saying I am not trying to start chit so dont get your panties in a wad(feel like I'm putting my disclaimer out like talking to an ex)), but a friend of mine who is an OM fan said this morning that Masoli isn't going to get cleared? Has onyone heard this and why? I thought it was a solid lock that he was going to play and not the NCAA is saying no?
Re: Masoli news

Re: Masoli news
Well I doubt you have an announcement even today.

Re: Masoli news
I was told by someone close to the prgram the NCAA verbally cleared him Friday and it would be announced first of week. Could I have wrong info? possibly But it came from same person that told me Masoli was coming to Ole Miss at least a week before it was announced.

Re: Masoli news
A decision has not been made yet by the NCAA contrary to reports. He took very few snaps Monday at practice which supports the word i am hearing. The longer this thing goes the less likely he is to get cleared. Has something to do with the transfer being academically driven and not sports driven b/c he as all ready graduated.

i was told the same thing. should be announced by wednesday if not today. Wrong info? possibly. but i doubt it. via very accurate source to date.NUTMEG wrote:I was told by someone close to the prgram the NCAA verbally cleared him Friday and it would be announced first of week. and your exactly right, he will not recieve the amount of snaps that he would be getting if he were already cleared. Reason being until he is, you have to act like he won't be from the team stand point. Until the NCAA annouces he can't step on the field. SO, Stanley and Randall have to be on the depth chart as 1 and 2. that's just the nature of the beast i guess.crazyjoedevola wrote:A decision has not been made yet by the NCAA contrary to reports. REGARDLESS, even if he is cleared Stanley will start this weekend against JS.

Re: Masoli news
I agree that the longer the less likely, and I can see how this whole situation circumvents all the transfer eligibility rules NCAA put into place. TECHNICALLY he has graduated and technically Ole Miss has a graduate level major that Oregon doesn't have...BUT is he coming to Ole Miss b/c he wants THAT major and happens to walk-on the football team?...or vice versa...we all know this is a work around and a loophole and not only but a chance for a player who ruined his shot at playing his senior year and is getting graced by circumventing the rules...it's not fair and it's really not just...the NCAA is dragging Ole Miss and Masoli through the proverbial mud b/c of it as long as they can before the whole "a rule is a rule" prevails...and as die hard an Ole Miss fan as I am, I understand why.crazyjoedevola wrote:The longer this thing goes the less likely he is to get cleared. What I don't like is the NCAA wouldn't make an example of other programs that they consider more valuable!!!! I also don't like that it could cost Randall Mackey a redshirt and then in the long term lots of money in potential draft one day...that part is not right.
Re: Masoli news
I think the NCAA got UM confused with MSU.

Re: Masoli news
Holy Crap you were on top of that one! Tell the truth, you had a Masoli google alert set up, didn't you? I'd say something witty about the reaction of Hogville and the mass release of bodily fluids by the entire state of Arkansas over an Ole Miss quarterback, but I'd probably get banned for speaking of such things on a "family" forum.
It's a bloody mary morning...

Re: Masoli news
Seems like NUTMEG's source was wrong after all.
And of course the Rebs are appealing the decision..........good luck with that.

"There is no question in my mind Jeremiah is in the right place," Mississippi coach Houston Nutt said. "We're in the people-helping business. I want to plead with that subcommittee. He's done nothing but what he's supposed to do."

@RebelMasoli I can confirm one thing, I just watched Nathan Stanley pee down his leg.

Re: Masoli news
So what's the big deal? According to Coach Nutt, he needed Ole Miss more than Ole Miss needed him. What's the point in making an appeal? They tried, it didn't get approved. Tell the young man best of luck in his studies and move on.
