Boiled peanuts

Postby teul2 » Mon Aug 09, 2010 12:59 pm

Super Wally World had some green peanuts last night, so I got some and bolied em up.
Love me some boiled peanuts. Anyway, sitting here eating some and wondering, since you really only see green peanuts a few weeks a year, do yall buy em and freeze em green?
boil them then freeze them?

Got to thinking how good some warm boiled goobers would be on a cool fall day and wanted to prepare some for just such an occasion.

i dont have an answer to your question, but am definitely wondering the same thing.

My grandfather boils them and freezes them. They taste the same as the day he cook em to me.

Im pretty sure he freezes them in the same water as he boils them. I know when they unthaw he eats the damn thing cold which defeats the purpose to me but I will ask him tonight and get back with ya. But I wouldn't see were it would hurt to put them in the microwave or in a boiler and just heat em up a min.

I was thinking I could stick them in a smaller pot on the stove and warm them back up that way.

Think I'll go buy me some more this evening to "put back".

We take and boil them about half way then put them in 1 gal frezzer bags with no liquid. When you get ready for them add them to some salted boiling water and cook them the rest of the way.

Boil em, freeze with no water. Wanna spice em up a bit? Put as much crab boil as you like in the water before boiling. After they are done, let sit overnight in the crab boil. Gotta love em.

i just take the green ones and freeze them in gallon ziploc, no preboil. They ain't gonna make past football season anyway, no matter how much you put up.
