Video Camera Question??????
Video Camera Question??????
Does anyone have a video camera that is designed to film hunts rather than the everyday consumer events. The reason I am asking is that I saw an ad for hunting type of video cameras and the ad was for a Campbell cameras. If you look on their site, they have cameras made for filming hunts but they have a nice price tag on them. I was just wondering if anyone had one of these nice hunting video cameras and are they worth the $$$$$? I would love to have one to start filming some hunts, especially my son's hunts. Why are these cameras so special?

Joe, I made My living for 25 years with Sony Camera's. In My opinion these are Great Cameras I looked at the 1800 dollar lowball they listed. Its a good ;low end pro camera lots of things you can do with it. But there are alot of camera's on the market for under 500 bucks that would work just fine for family type video's. You dont need a professional grade DV camera for that...Way overkill.
Unless money is not a object I'd find something else.

Re: Video Camera Question??????
Campbell's cameras is just a retailer for outdoor camera equipment.
Yes I have 2 Cannon HFS20's and if you even want a remote chance of anyone watching your footage other than friends and family, you best have one.
My family owns a treestand company and we used to have our own show. When I was in highschool and college I spent a lot fo time filming for the show and the realtree guys, but cameraman = BIOTCH....
It's not as easy as it looks to film a quality show.

Tunica, I agree with you on the everyday video camera for the family. I have a Sony that has the Hi 8 tapes and it does just fine for the everyday events. I was just wondering why these were so high $$$$$. I was also looking at videoing some of my sons duck, turkey and deer hunts, just for fun and not trying to make a hunting video on tv. They just made me curious on what made them so good and if anyone had any experience with these types of cameras.

Re: Video Camera Question??????
I have a fairly basic JVC and Sony MiniDV cameras. Both are great for filming hunts and transfering to a computer for editing and take great video. Neither cost more than $400 bucks. Unless you are starting your own tv show, I'd stick with a Mini DV camera in the $500 range. Don't get the MiniDVD (the discs hold less than an hour of video). Some of the hard drive or SD cameras are okay, but the MiniDV cameras take the best video.

Those are Canon and sony 1080 HiDef cameras. When 1080 HiDef came out they were $25,000. Just like cameras they are coming down in price. Its just like TV. You watch HiDef and you can't really compare it to regular TV.
