My 2001 Kodiak started running hot and I noticed the radiator fan has stopped coming on. The experts said check the fan with a 12v source and see if it's working. I pulled the fan, hooked it direct to a 12v battery and sure enough, it barely turns so I assume the fan is bad. Here's the kicker, the OEM part is damn near $300. Do you know of any cycle service places that part out ATV's or any place I can call? I remember a place in Yazoo City but can't recall the name. Any parts dealer or salvage place is what I need.

one of the atv dealerships or small engine repair places that works on atv's might have what your wanting but if all else fails, try ebay. see alot of bikes being parted out on there all the time

Shop the interweb. You can probably find an aftermarket fan not specifically for your bike, that will work fine. Just make sure its the same diameter, and voltage. Might take a little afro-engineering to attach, but will save you tons of $$.

Did a little research for you... check this out.

In case it ends up being your fan....you can replace it with one from the dealer for $365 Canadian or buy one from a junk yard off a chev sprint (think mine is off a 94) for $5. It's a little bigger but works perfectly. You'll have to heat up your fan housing with a torch to make a little room for the new motor but it's no problem at all. My $5 motor has been going strong for over a year now with no problems what so ever. You will have to keep your original fan blade but it's the same shaft size as the sprint one so no problems there.

sort of what i did for my rhino - went to chain auto parts store and bought a cheap replacement fan ($20 or so), put it in place of my old one (red siliconed up all the openings from having to cut some, so it was waterproof like the old one) and used my old fan blade.....my fan is a pusher, instead of a puller now (wires are opposite from a car - just hooking it to an external battery it pulled, but when i hooked it back up to the bike, it pushed). it still works fine (it ran in LOTS of water and mud all season at camp - up to and lil over floorboards) and actually i like it pushing so it keeps the grass seeds blown out of the radiator (used to get stopped up more with the puller running in heavy, tall weeds.
