I am looking at buying some land in Tippo and was wondering if anyone knows any duck history from the Tippo - Paynes area. I will not be hunting it this year so, not to worry, Thanks!

There are more band returns from Tallahatchie County, than any other county in the state. Leflore County being second. In my opinion, from Money north to Crowder is probably the best duck hunting area of the state. I am looking to buy in the Tippo area as well.

Why are there so many ducks in those 2 counties, is there a lot of farming and food that bring and keep them there?

Tallahatchie and Yalobusha combined with large tracts of bottomland timber equals lots-o-ducks. These areas consistently have water with average rainfall, and they are also along the edge of the delta.

I've always felt that the ducks take two main migratory routes through the Delta. One is along the river, and the other follows the edge of the hills. If you look at the NWR system in Mississippi, you can see the pattern. Mathews Brake, Morgan Brake, Hillside, and Panther Swamp are all within 5 miles of the hills.

Just my opinion based on my years of hunting.

I have a camp a few miles to the west of Money and we have been killing a few birds, nothing outstanding but on average about 7 to 12 birds a hunt.
