You guys may have seen it on the news but a fire broke out at Crossgates apartments in Starkville this afternoon. Early reports are calling 3 buildings total losses with damage to atleast 4 more. No injuries have been reported.
64 apartments total were damaged (I think that is what I heard) so lots of people are without a home tonight. Keep these folks in your thoughts and prayers.

I was in the area when it happened it looked like dante's peak with all the smoke and ash. Being on a fire dept for 4 years it is the most widespread structure fire i have seen. The university was going around getting people's names that were without a place to stay and are going to try to put them up in a dorm i believe or get them a place to stay temp. They all have my prayers and I am just glad it happened when most were awake and not in the early morning hours.

Nothing on local news about it at all. WLOV in tupelo covered the story. WTF!

Is that the complex out by the president's home? I have a niece who lives out there...got to get checking!

it was on wcbi this morning - first story out at 5 a.m. - i think they caught the "inferno" shot danielb was talking about (dante's peak)...it was a HUGE ball of bright fire!

no, it was out by walmart on the west side of town (university commons/pres. house is on the east side of campus).

I saw it at least twice last night on WCBI It was on the 10 oclock news and they also ran it on a scroll across the bottom of the screen last nite.

My buddies girlfriend lost her apartment in the fire. They smelled smoke then looked out across and the building next to them was on fire. They grabbed pets and computers thinkin theres would be fine but it jumped and burned theres down also. Very bad situation...

Yeah one of mine and my brothers friends was one of the ones that burned to the ground. He and his girlfriend made it out, but it burnt to the ground. Bad bad deal.
