A $10 fish hook

Postby Seymore » Sat Apr 03, 2010 10:41 pm

I was at Dick's this week and they have a display of fishing hooks with the selling point being that the hook has a trocar point. The price for one is $10. I asked the salesman if that was true and he said it was. I couldn't believe it.

I wouldn't pay $10 for a bait much less a single hook.

There is four more hooks in the pack up under the blue paper in the pack. They are jam up hooks but no need to rare back and set the hook because they will rip there mouth and come out.

Mustad has come out with some new circle hooks, not looking forward to seeing the prices of those.

I thought that was a lot of package for 1 hook.

If you think $10 is tuff on hooks, don't move up to the offshore tuna/marlin action. $10 is cheap!

That's why it's great to have GOOD freinds. Especially one that just purchased a 35' Contender with triple 300 Verados!

Yeah my boss has a 27' contender, i have not been tuna fishing with him but have done some snapper and aj fishing with him. He does some tuna fishing but his favorite is cobia. That contender is fast but not the smoothest riding thing. Another guy i work with has a 27' cape horn it is slow but rides good.

We have done close to 70 mph down the river before. I HATE going that fast in a boat in the river. However my buddy has two speeds tied to the dock and wide open, guess I just have to live with it.

...or die with it, although 70mph from Venice to the gulf would cut your riding time down considerably. I like to drive fast, just not ride with someone else that is driving fast. Guess it's that whole control thing.
