The wife and I are thinking about going on a cruise. So far what we have seen online we like the carnival cruise to the bahamas. We are looking at either a 4 or 5 day cruise.

Just go to Mexico...preferably Mazatlan, and squeeze a little duck hunting in.....

Been on 2 a 7 day to Jamica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel on Carnival and one to the Bahamas on Royal Carribean.. Carnival was better, but the Bahamas was nice..

went on a 5 day out of NOLA and it was alright. Not much to do on the boat other than drink, gamble, or play BINGO, and the drinks are expensive. Well, there is one other thing to do on the boat, but the rooms are small and the walls are thin.

and your point is on the small rooms and thin walls? To me that just makes it that much better.




A cruise is nice if you don't mind not spending much time at the stops. If you'd rather sight see around the place, then you'd be better off flying to your destination and spending time there. With a cruise the days at sea are wasted days in my opinion. If you like trains, I suggest doing a rail trip. Being in MS, you have a daily train route from New Orleans to Chicago that is an overnight train. You can jump on there and be in Chicago for 9AM the following morning. From there you can jump on a train and go anywhere east or west by rail. You sit back and enjoy the ride and sights. Trains generally pass through the heart of old towns as they were originally built along the tracks.

my wife and i opted to go to sandals in the bahamas for our honeymoon. we didn't want to be stuck on a ship. cruises are fun but i don't like being on someone else's schedule. i highly recommend sandals. it is all inclusive. i.e. you can dive twice a day everyday for absolutely nothing. all food and drinks are completely free. you even have a stocked bar in your room. and if we wanted to go into town it was $1 each way. it really is the way to go. we plan on doing another sandals trip on one of our anniversaries.

just got back from cozumel on the 5 day carnival out of Mobile. had fun would recomend it especialy since air fare is so high.

Not to hijack a thread, but what's a cruise like that run ALL-inclusive (not just package cost but all said and done, back home looking at pics and nursing a sunburn)?

Are the meals and activities on board the ship included in the price per person?

you can get rate quotes on carnival cruise .com. it is all inclusive but alcohol and soda is extra (water Lemonade and some of the nastiest tea you will ever taste are free).you will also have a gratuity for the staff added to your bill of about $10 per person per day. IMO cruises are do nothing vacations just relax eat and watch all the spring break gals run around in their swimsuits, with a little snorkeling, golf or shopping in Mexico thrown in.

If you in to that romantic crap there is a liquor store where you can get wine and watch the sun set.

I have been on 2 carnival cruises and if i were to cruise again it would be with carnival. Everyone that i talked to that went with another cruise line and carnival said that carnival was better.

A cruise is a do nothing vacation. I liked it b/c once you get on the boat everything is there within walking distance.

You can get a beverage card on that carnival that will cover the cost of soda but not adult beverages. I think the card is like $40 a person but you will easily drink for that much in soda b/c of the cost of them.

Just don't like the open ocean cruises. I mean, what is there to look at!

I really liked the Alaska cruise with a balcony berth so you can look at all that beauty all day long as you cruise.

If you want a warm weather vacation, just fly and don't waste the time looking at open ocea, Of course, you may like looking at all those wrinkled up old women!
