Re: question for timber hunters
camo vest, and/or make sure she is under / next to a tree with low over hanging branches.
Looking for 2 duck calls from Dominic Serio of Greenwood (ones for Novacaine)

Yea those were some good pictures. Dogs ready to go to war.
I use a camo unbrella to put over the top of my freinds dog. Have it tilted back so it covers directly over the top of him and covers all of the back of him. Still has plenty of room to see everything to the sides and in front of him. It covers him when they fly directly over the top and when they swing around. I just thought of it one day b/c the dog is so hyper. It actually works b/c he loses them when they go behind us until they drop right in on top of us then he sees them again. So he calms down when he dont see them.
May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face, and may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.

Camo vest works fine...

Re: question for timber hunters
I dont camo mine other than a vest.
Re: question for timber hunters
I put mine in the decoy bag until it's time to make a retrieve.

Ive always wondered why the yellow dogs, or any dog really, doesent flare the hell out of the ducks in a close timber situation. Ive hunted over many a yellow dog sitting on a treestand in the wide open and its like they never see them. I mean, what does that camo vest really do when you still have the head and neck, legs, etc exposes. Seems like the ducks just dont pay them much attention for some reason, at least if there reasonably still.

Re: question for timber hunters
Just make sure they sit still. I put a vest on mine but it's more for protection than camouflage.
Re: question for timber hunters
Never done anything but teach em to be still! Dogs usually won't bother a duck comin in. How many of you seen deer standing in the middle of ducks? Same thing. I've had ducks comin in while the dog was retrieving. I always taught mine to freeze when they heard a duck call unless they were chasin a cripple. It takes time but a good meat dog can sure learn it!
Re: question for timber hunters
that camo dog in the Pictures sticky is mine and I think it makes a big difference
My solution is to get another dog - every duck hunter needs a black and a yellow. Or just use facepaint
