not too sure bout size but if your using it for duck hunting and hunting in a place with a lot of stumps stainless steel is not a good choice...it wont give like an aluminum prop will and can break the shaft in the motor or so ive been told by a dealer...just my .02

Your stock aluminum prop is a 13 pitch. This is what comes with the motor. Seeing as how you are on a larger boat u could prolly go down to a 12 with no worry's but I wouldn't go any lower without puttin a tach on it. You won't pull anything larger than a 13. Put the stainless on and forget about it! You shear a prop you dead in the water anyhow. What's the difference? That's just an old myth used by many "old" dealers that wouldn't stock stainless props! Im running a 12 on mine but it's pretty loaded. 542, floor. gun box, tm. etc. Still planes out good with even 3 people in it.

After bending the ever loving snot out of an aluminum prop 5 miles down river from the boat ramp on a submerged tractor disk 13 or 14 years ago, we put a stainless prop on our 1548 w/ 25 hp evenrude.

We have used this boat as a bulldozer to get thru log jams, had it running with nothing but the lower unit in the water running over button willows. To this day, it has not been repaired or replaced. Although it has some nicks and dings in it, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I have the original repaired prop in the boat should I need a spare, but I will never have any thing but a stainless prop on my boat.

I had the same motor. Busted the stock aluminum prop up on some rocks fly fishing on the little red in Ar-Kansas. Took it to RJ's in Jackson(who by the stocks stainless props) and wanted to buy a SS prop from them and he said on the smaller outboards, like the 25 Merc, that if I had hit the rocks with a SS prop, I would have busted the lower unit to pieces. They dont forgive like a cast aluminum prop. On SOME instances a SS prop will have the strength to push the back of the boat "up" and "over" when hitting submerged structures and be fine, but a direct hit on stainless would have busted the lower unit up. I now have a 40hp yamaha and have a SS prop, but the lower unit is alot stronger that the smaller units.

You will not regret the stainless, I run them on all my boats fishing and hunting! If it was me I would go to a dealer and ask to demo a 12 and a 13 but I would bet the 12 will work just fine

Merc only offers a 13''. Solas has a 11" or 13" and Michigan has a 13" or 15". I would go with the 13" Merc stainless. That is if you have a two stroke and not a four stroke. My 1544 with a 25 does great with a 13" with two people, deer stands and an occasional deer.

The mercury mechanic up here runs a ss on his 25 merc so I wouldn't worry too much about tearing anything up. If you are going the ss route get a powertech, the solas props are junk.

Get a stainless and be done with it. 13 pitch is right on the money.
