Postby RNT1985 » Mon Dec 28, 2009 3:19 pm

Need some advice...been shootin a 870 pump for 15 years and finally lookin to upgrade to a new shotgun and thinkin i wanna go to a semiauto. Now i know that everyone has a personal preferance when it comes to shotguns but i'm torn cause theres so many out there and each has it strong points...gimmie ya'lls opinion on the winchester super x3, the Benelli SBE2, Browning Maxxis, and Beretta xtrema2. these are what i'm thinkin...thanks!

O.K. I will shut the hell up now and let the auto experts answer your question. :D Good luck

They're all good. They're all bad. Depends on who you ask. Find somebody that has one and will let you shoot it. See how they feel to you. Someone else's oppinion is not gonna help you. If you want to know about reliability, find a gunsmith and ask him which one he works on the least. Any moving part gun will need maintenance. Best advice I can give is try them. If you can't do that, at least go in and shoulder each gun. See which one feels right. Which one fits your eye.

I shoot an 870 now. I am a Browing semi man all my life. Had to go with 870 for $$$ reasons. But I have shot the SBE2 and Beretta. I love the Benelli. If I had the $$$, no doubt Benelli.
Also, do not forget about resale value. You will always be able to get your money back out of the Benelli. Name has a value, whether they are actually better or not.
PS. If you get the Benelli and shoot it a while and do not like it, give me a call and make me a deal!

Hmmmm-I'm from the old school. Shoot a Winchester model 12 heavy duck gun customized from Simmons Gun shop-the only pump gun that if you hold the trigger down as you cycle will fire when the bolt closes-a true meat gun.

That's fine for self-defense at close range.....like for a lion.....not sure how practical that would be for anything but conservation order goose whacking. Also the only gun whose safety is in front of the trigger.......Kinda awkward. 'Can't top the nastolgic factor of a model 12 though......plenty o' ducks died from Model 12 inflicted damage.

The closet thing in feel and drop will be the Super X 3 or the Browning Gold. They are almost identical. Best buy for the money will prolly be the SX-3. Lot of people don't know much about em but they are a very reliable gun. I sell all 4, work on all 4, and have shot all 4. They are all great guns. Each to his own, and everyone will have their own opinion as to which is better. But remember this. Berretta or Browning owns every major auto on the market today! With that in mind and looking at the suttle differences in the makes I say the SX-3 is the best value for the buck. All the internal parts of the SX3 and the browning gold are the same. I too am a diehard 870 fan but I like the feel and the way the SX3 shoots. Like I said it's almost identical, plus has an adjustable stock!

I had mine jam shooting field loads once, I am pretty sure that was my fault, with a piston driven auto you have to clean it regularly. I have never had it jam with 3-31/2 inch shells. They will all jam at some point, I hunt with people that use them all and have seen every gun mentioned jam at one point in time.

I am working on my 6th case not counting skeet shells and no jam or fail to eject a low brass. Everyone will have a different story but I think its a deal.
