unfortunately for you magic mallard this forum has become a place for people to flex their cyber muscles. i miss the days when people would actually come on here and chat about duck hunting. that is what this site was years ago. now it is a bunch of wanna be's who are scared you are gonna come hunt their favorite public hole. when in effect you are simply trying to chat about ducks.

back in the day you could actually chat about duck migration without getting the stupid "stay home" "no ducks" or wasting of time and space with a cut and paste of wikepedia BS. i wish some of the old guys on this site who remember what it use to be would help rid these young yuppies who get their rocks off with stupid post padding posts.

to help you out i have heard some talks about people in northern delta getting some ducks over the last week but the real first push is not here yet. the ducks that are here are somewhat condensed. i know of one guy who has shot limits for a week and the adjoining property has not fired a shot. very weird. proof that the concentration is not here yet.

i think they are showing up but not real good yet.

as for the other readers of this post....i challenge you......it really is ok to just say nothing. by making posts of stay home etc. really just impresses your virtual friends on the internet. lets try to get this board back to something that has some true value in it besides a bunch of post counts

Bullsprig, that's the best post I've read on this site in a long time! I haven't hunted ducks in Mississippi in many years, but I still like to hear where the birds are.

+1

Ditto on BSprig. Lots of spotty reports. Some folks slaying the birds. Some are not. Better than a week ago but not quite there.

Bull.....I appreciate it....

I have been a member since before the date on my header....changed names a couple of times because I forgot my info and had computer crashes.....

I fully understand the validity of anyone not wanting to give out specific info....but I also appreciate the fact that someone can give an opinion without the "slamming" that I've been seeing on here....

Believe it or not, I have no interest of trying to find anyones spot....If I want to hunt public...I know where to go. With that said, it is beneficial to give "reports" as to numbers of ducks in "areas" and to what is being seen in the way of "flight" ducks.....A guy in Tunica can say that he's seeing good numbers of "flight" ducks and that is helpful to me hunting on the Pearl River at the mouth of the Gulf.....

I say it's helpful, because it lets me know that ducks are on the move.....now does that mean that they are going to be in my hole in one day, two days, or three? I don't know, but I do know that the "flight" ducks the guy in Tunica saw, ain't in Missouri anymore....

One of the main purposes of this site was to give a place for people with a common interest to exchange info...After trying to find sites in Arkansas, Missouri, and Tennessee for info like this....I didn't find anything close, so we are blessed with having it....But it's only as good as the members allow it to be....

With that being said....Are they on the move or not?

Thanks...

Magic Mallard, and others, I hope you got the jest of my post. Which is exactly what Bullsprig was saying. Trust me I just had a couple hardcore waterfowlers try to learn me how to be a real duck hunter on another post. God forbid you ask a question. The flag seemed appropriate if appropriate is tied to the latest trends.

BTW I am in east ms, river is outta the banks, birds scattered, if there are any. Reports through pms that I have gotten on mahannah is nothing doing. Still spotty some birds in mid delta. Damn it feels good to be a topwater. But hey, like someone told me on here...go shopping or stay with the kids... Good luck man.

Oh and I am hunting the upper pearl. I've been hunting it my whole life I have learned one thing- it's a flyway within itself for these parts. Saw some new birds Thurs, but they were flying high your way( if your south ). The ones that did check up and drop down had about 40,000 acres of flooded river bottom the look at. Needless to say we weren't on the red x.

got a buddy that hunts lake Mary.....I can only imagine what your dealin' with.....Hunted Chotard for years and water's good, when you have ducks....When you have too much water, it's going to take everything lockin' up in ice to funnel birds into spots....even if we had them right now, which I know we don't, there is just too damn much water to deal with.....

I mean, unless you're baitin', they just have too many options....
makes huntin' real hard on a guy.....

Yeah, it looked to be getting back to normal water-wise. Not anymore. During low water years the hunting can be phenomenal. This high water does make slipping through the timber in a canoe a pretty feasable option.

Baiting...hhmmmm...there's an idea...
