Best gloves for duck hunting

Postby dukewoody » Tue Dec 08, 2009 10:40 pm

I have tried several different pair of waterfowl gloves, from regular ole neoprene to Whitewater and Beretta, and can't find a slightly warm waterproof pair that lasts more than a season. I may be asking for too much in a glove I reckon. I would like some input from you guys on what gloves you like an dislike. Thanks.

In my experience there is no such thing as a good glove. I usually dont wear them but if you have too, go to walmart and get a pack of jersey cotton gloves. When they get wet put another pair on. Also a subsitute for toliet paper. Also try wool, it will keep you warm even when they are wet. Goodluck

For putting out/picking up decoys in icy water, nothing is better than crabbing gloves. Otherwise, there are no good gloves that I have ever found.

They all suck pretty much. I did find some gloves made out of some synthetic which are like a military dress glove and their best redeeming qualities are they cut the wind and dry out quick.

I have found the best thing for me is to pick up and put out decoys without gloves. I usually keep a pair of thin wool gloves in my pocket. We hunt out of a boat most of the time so I just wear them running up and down the lake, then take them off when setting up, and if its really cold, I put them back on to hunt with. They are thin enough to "work" with while on and warm your hand up quickly after being in the water. I will say that dont ever trust your "waterproof" gloves and always take a back up pair. I really dont like anything on my hands or face, but in cold weather, wet hands will lead to you to getting miserable very quickly.

I SWEAR by just wearing a glove liner, very thin but cut wind and dry quick. Then for picking up decoys I have some bright booty blue commercial grade (almost crab gloves) for those brutally cold days.
If some animals are good at hunting and others are suitable for hunting, then the Gods must clearly smile on hunting.

I have a pair of "decoy gloves" for picking up. Other than that, I don't like gloves while hunting. I keep a pair of cheap ones in my blind bag that I'll slip on if things are real slow. If things pick up, the gloves come off.

I don't know if they're any good, but the last time I was in Bass Pro Shop (in the boot department) I saw some gloves called seal gloves. They were thin and black with a textured grip and I want to say they were about $30.00. They looked pretty good. I think I'm gonna pick me up a pair the next time I'm in there.

I tried the seal skinz before, and i thought they were not good at all. This is just my honest opinion. I thought they made my hands colder while picking up the decoys. Dry but cold. I like the cheap cotton or nothing at all.

I only wear gloves while I'm riding the 4 wheeler or boating into where I am hunting. If it is really cold and the ducks aren't flying I may put them back on for a bit, but mostly I just don't like them. Can't seem to do anything with them on.
