Yep, my old one is worn to shreds from constant trapping, ducking and deering. Any suggestions on what kind of wader-length jacket to buy? My old one was shadowgrass reversible to treestand; I really liked the light/dark contrast. What about the Widgeon or others?

I bought a Whistling Wings jacket from Mossy Oak last year. Cost was reg. $199, got it for $99. The've got them in all the camo patterns in the closeout store. It's wader length, waterproof, and very, very warm. The only drawback is that the jacket makes too much noise if you decide to use it deer hunting.

I have one of the original Browning Quatro parkas that I have still not worn out, after 8 years or so. It has a down filled fleece liner that is so hot I never use it except in South Dakota. Only problem is that it is really too long for wadeing, and the bottom of the coat stays sopping wet.

I would have gotten a Columbia Widgeon this year, but don't like the gimmicky shell holding tubes on the front that they just added. I should have just bit the bullet and got a super widgeon last year, that they don't make anymore. Anyone know where you can get a last years model Widgeon in Shadowgrass?

I've got the Columbia Widgeon from last year. It is a great coat for ducking!!! I don't deer hunt in it because it is pretty noisy though.

I just bought a Mount n' Prairie from Academy Sports and I love it. It has everything I wanted-price, pockets, protection and pattern (sound like a commercial). Any way, it was $169 with a MSRP of $349. Reversible and removable liner, hood, storm flaps, the whole nine yards. It is made of "Hush Hide" and I got it in "Shadow Grass". I would recommend it to anyone. My only concern is that it won't get cold enough down here on the coast to need the liner. Hopefully it will.

I got a Columbia Widgeon "Silent Rain" jacket last year and I really like it. $189 from Mack's. Very Quiet and warm - regular shell loops (not the tubes), and the same reversible liner that the $300 Widgeon has.

Those Whistling Wings jackets at Mossy Oak closeout outlet (that HH22 is talkin' about), [img]images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif[/img] have been in there (at that reduced price) for 3 years.....that. alone should tell you that they don't appeal to the veteran duckers. They weigh a TON and are so bulky you can't get your gun up in time to shoot. When you finally mount the gun, you'll miss the target 'cause you've added 3" of length to your stock and consequently, you shoot below the target. Every now-and-then, some unsuspecting 'Billy-Bob' will buy one thinkin' they're gettin' a GREAT deal.....only to discover that it's only good for high-school football games and attack-dog training. Mossy Oak makes some good products, but this one was an unfortunate error. However, when THEY realized that....they were quick to drop it from their line....which says how dedicated they are to producing quality duck hunting products.

I've had a Wigeon since they were introduced. 'Been a great coat! Now, I have to treat it with fabric waterproofing to maintain the 'shedding' ability. Maybe it's just 'wore out'. I still have a lot of faith in Ma Boyle....they make some great products!

I have two hydrofleece jackets, both water-proof.<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>one for really cold temperatures <LI>one with a shell and zip-out liner for changing conditions and temperature fluctuations </UL>....but that's only 'cause they cost more than anything else on the market (other than hydro-suede). [img]images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif[/img] They really don't keep me comfortable or dry,....I just make it a point to spend money on stuff that most folks can't afford......that's the basis for all my spending decisions.....Prestige......doesn't have a thing to do with function or frugality. I have a Browning hydro fleece jacket that is simply hard to beat. Very thin, very warm, very waterproof, and VERY windproof. You can put a duck call up to it and try to make even a little sound through it, but you can't do it. Elastic bottom makes it perfect for wading. Very good jacket in my opinion. I also have a Columbia Silent Hide parka that I love too. Only problem with it is that it has no inside pocket, and outside pockets are a little weak.

We must two peas in a pod!!! I have a Browning Hydro Fleece w/o liner, and a Hydro-Suede wader jacket w/ liner. Love them both!!!

I like my Browning hydrofleece...and wear a navy flight jacket under it when it's ice breaking cold out. Only draw back to it is when it rains, it gets heavy and you need to shake it off like a shaggy dog...but, it seems to dry fast and really knocks down the wind. I tried on a gamehide pb6 mallard or something today. Zip out liner, shadowgrass, hood, velcro cuffs, all that stuff. It isn't as quiet as the hushhide, but looks like it'd be more rainproof. It was 159 bucks...but I'll admit, over the years, I've heard alot about the Widgeon. Thanks to all of you who gave a mature reply.
