yep it destoys all your gaskets and hoses. I started treating all my gas (except my truck cause i use it to quick) with this ethanol treatment. it is suppose to evaporate the H2O that ethanol produces in you gas tank. i can't remeber the name of the stuff off hand.

There has been numerous posts about ethanol mixed gas and ANY outboard. Overtime ethanol separates from the gasoline. This lowers the octane rating of the fuel. Boat tanks sweat and almost all tanks have some amount of water in them from their occasional use. The ethanol mizes with the water at the bottom of the tank when it separates from the gasoline. Now you have a watery ethanol mixture sitting at the bottom of the tank.

One plus, ethanol is a solvent and will clean an old fuel system, kind of like what bio-diesel does for diesel engines.

Thank you for that M R. I believe I caught the early stages of damage a couple months ago. Only 2 gas stations have ethenol free gas in starkville. They have large signs hanging up indicating this. I also use the carn treatment every tank or every other tank. Seems to be helping. 3 carbs are hell on the wallet when its time to have them serviced.

the fast break on 182w has regular and premium non-ethanol gas (only the mid grade has ethonal in it). i went to the other place and got a tank full of sludge off of the bottom of the tank that got mixed up good with water, so i haven't been back to them after dealing with the bs .....

Most of the small engine (chainsaw) stores carry a Non-ethanol gas with the oil already mixed in for the Chainsaws.
The ethanol eats up the gaskets REAL bad on the little motors.

I had the same problem on a few different small engines. I run sea foam in everything now.

its possible the station you filled up at had water in their tanks. You may have paid for water instead of gas. :? :?

ethanol is basically corn wiskey, and as we all know wiskey has water in it, if you are buying gas at a station that doesn't do a large volume of business the gasoline actually floats on the water that has seperated from the ethanol , making the water content o the gas much higher than normal, @ least thats how it was explained to me
