Couldn't wait 2 more weeks!!

Had to go down to Venice and get in on some West zone LA huntin. I've always heard about how good it is down there so a buddy of mine and I had to go check it out. Went down on Friday and scouted us out a place to hunt and then camped out on the river bank with a bunch of locals/coon asses!! HA, no offense guys if ya'll are on here!!! Great guys, they were great to talk to and were happy to lend out info about the area. UNFORTUNATELY, Ida had plans as well and ruined the ideal conditions that the local guys said is usual for the area on opening day. HOWEVER, to me and Tommy it was about like a typical opening day up here just no mallards and woodies involved. We got 3 bluewing teal apiece,1 greenwing apiece, I got a Mottled and he got a spoony. If we had known what time shooting time started we would have limited out. We were loaded with ducks early but wasn't sure what time shooting time was and waited on the first shot. We had a really great time and WILL be going back!!! If you ever get a chance to make it down there, make sure you have a boat that can handle the river down there and go for it!!! It's a great experience!!!

Glad you had a good hunt in my backyard. The conditions were actually perfect in my opinion. THe marsh looks outstanding, plenty of feed and the ducks will be there. Where Ida got us was pushing the birds we were holding out of the area. Camping was prolly tough with the gnats this weekend.

Not a bug problem at all, not even mosquitos actually!!! We were really surprised!!! Yea conditions were great just the hurricane pushed the birds that were there out. Still had a great time!! ANY TIME killin birds is a GREAT TIME!!! Even if it's ONE!!!!!

Shoot me a PM, have pole, reel, string and artificial bait and it's used to catching fish. Houma isn't but 45 minutes from me.



On the pirogue, they are one that it's a good idea to always have a spare set of clothes. Them things work great, but boy they tip over easy. You breath funny or let out a fart wrong and you swimming.

About those pirouges, they arent hard to handle when you spend a lot of time in one..... Ive slept in mine! Standing and poling is fine too.... Just gotta get used to it ayeeee!
It was a good trip..... Should have some birds headed south as we speak..... Yall have a good season. Pintail gimme a shout! T.W.
