Slug Gun Scope

I just got a new slug gun (with a rifled barrel and all) and I am looking for a scope to put on it. I like regular rifle scopes because that's just what I've always hunted with. I was wondering if there was any reason you can't use a regular rifle scope (like a leupold vari x1 or something) on a slug gun. Is there anything different on the "slug gun scopes" other than the fact that they may have different reticles for different yardages? I think I've heard that regular rifle scopes can't handle the recoil of a slug gun, but I like the zoom of a rifle scope.

I am not a scope expert but the scopes on my rifles work fine, and some of them kick alot more than my 12 guage..

Lowery I thought you were better than this. I always thought of you as Josey Whales, to good for a scope. Guess I was assumeing and well we both know what happens when you assume things.
