Most folks in here use Tritronics or Dogtra...........for a reason.

My opinion, based on owning a Sportdog collar in the past: Don't put it in brackish water, or use it much, or expect it to work past a couple hundred yards, and you won't be dissapointed.

There is a reason that Tri-Tronics, and Dogtra, dominate the market.

I have a SportDog you can have for free, IF you can find it at the bottom of the lake I threw it in.

I have both TT and Dogtra collars and they are both quality products. I used to prefer Dogtra...but I am now using a TT Field 90 EXP for both my dogs and love it. It's simple, rugged and works.

The guys and owner of Gundogsupply.com in starkville will talk you into a Sportdog everyday! he runs birds dogs (long distance) and labs...and uses the new sportdog 1825 instead of the tritronics now. dont quote me but i heard they had trouble with TTs customer service. not trying to argue with anyone...this is for my opinion only right? :D I bought the regular sportdog 800 and love it! and love the different modes it has as far as high or low levels of each level....love the tone on mine. mines in the water about everyday but of course im not doing over 150 yard anything right now. with that being said my roommate has a TT G3 sport and he swears by it.

Now thats funny. Steve Snell talked me OUT of Sportdog when I ordered my second collar a few years ago. He must be on an incentive program now.

Just bought a collar myself...

Got a couple trainers and hunters opinions, and they all really didn't have anything positive to say besides SportDog was a little cheaper, and had great customer service. I told them, personally, I really don't want to have to know what their customer service is like. I also didn't really care about camo, and enjoyed the Tracer light adaptability of the TriTronics. I ended up going with a TT Pro 100 G2. It is last years model, and the transmitter is going to be a little bigger, but for the price I was told I shouldn't pass it up.

Check it out here...

Of course, this is just my opinion, I could be wrong.

An inconsistant collar is as bad as no collar. Tritronics is the only product for me. Ive had dogtras, and they where ok, their customer service was good, no complaints. But still never felt consisancy was where it should be. Everyone of my tritronics collars have been perfect, everytime. I became a better trainer, and my dogs became better with collar corrections, when I went tt. I used their winger remotes as well, and think they're the bomb. And they're support of hrc makes it hard to even tihnk about another company, even one with a good product like dogtra.

I paid 99 bucks for a sport dog to have a cheap hunting collar. Its a shame when you buy something for 99 bucks, and you didnt get your monies worth. It was that bad. travis
