i went to the madison county court court today to get a date for driving school (im under 21) and i ended up getting 10 hours of community service, driving school and the judge took my license, gave me a copy of it and told me i can not drive anywhere unless i have someone over the age of 25 in my truck. i wont get my license or all driving privileges back until im done with driving school and community service. has anyone ever gotten this much for a simple speeding ticket? this is my first ticket.

never heard of that. I got one once and did the driving school thing. All I did was go to Court pleade guilty and ask for driving school. All I had to do was pay the driving school fee

85 in a 70 is too damn fast, if you were my son I would thank the judge...maybe add some community service. Slow down...slower is better.

Seems harsh to me even being from the other side of the ticket book. 85 in a 70 does not constitute community service. That decision was made by the judge not the officer.

Pretty harsh. If you need community service hours, call the Animal Shelter here in Greenwood. Oughta be able to help out there for a couple days and they will write it off for you.

Man, I wish they would've given me the option to manage something indoors back in the day when I did community service.
All the stop and yield signs in Silver City....yep, put up by yours truly when he was 16 years old (for doing 50 in a 35 on Orange Beach)

15 over also is wreckless or careless driving which increases ticket an insurance. I always try to go 14 over or less!

It's all kinda relative...35 in a 20 doesn't seem too bad, 85 is just too fast to be driving anywhere except in an emergency. (trying to beat your girlfriends parents home by 30 minutes isn't an emergency)
