Well it finally happened. After 22 years of hunting on private land and in a good spot it is over. The duck hole has been sold and
unfortunately I do not go with it. I do not have any gripes however as the owner has been quite generous over the years, and my only outlay has been a beaver control progam
and my assistance in stopping up the water to make compound, Atv and outboard motor maintenance. The only dark thought is that the man who bought it has purchased in the recent past both of the 2 other duck holes where I have hunted for years. I get the feeling that he has been chasing me. I do not know the man personally but have been told that he is unapproachable and does not allow any hunting on his places. The down side of the whole situation is that duck hunting in my area in terms of a membership is very expensive, and the public hunting is very crowded. With the season this close I hope I can come with something. There is an old saying and it rings especially true today. " Nothing Good Lasts Forver" at least in the material world. I will thank God for all of those years and pray for a place for this year

Swamp Rat, if you can't find anything by the first, and I don't have a hunt booked, why don't you swim up the Yazoo and come burn some powder with me on the first Saturday. Maybe we can sniff out some of those Canadas you've been wanting to take.

I have to say that I'm in the same boat as you SWAMPRAT because this year a good friend of mine passed away and now I dont have permission to hunt his land any more. I live in monroe county and think the duck hunters out number the ducks on public land up here. But I do know some pretty good spots up here. So if you come up this way I would be glad to let you knoe some of them.

Thanks Steel 3's Its a sick feeling when a hunting friend dies. If the Miss River stays
to low to hunt then the refuge near by will be crammed. Like the Ms Outdorrs magazine does the State WMA's the refuge gets a lot of positive press and as a result is crowded and the area sanctioned for hunting is small.
