browntop millet?

Postby duckmon » Tue Oct 13, 2009 8:26 pm

how long can browntop millet survive if it goes underwater? I have a good stand of millet, however it appears that it is going to flood with all of this rain. i have a feeling that the whole plant will not go underwater just most of it? any answers would greatly be appreciated.

Not sure which scenario fits your situation best:

*If it is just a flash flood, and water stands on it for less than 24 hours, it will probably be ok.

*If the water leaves a mud residue all over the plant, it will probably die even if the water leaves fairly quickly.

*If the water stays on the browntop for more than 24 hours but less than 3 days, top part may die off and the plant may try to grow again from its base.

*If the water stays on it for more than 3 days, it is toast.

I have seen every one of these scenarios, two this season alone.
