Thinking about retiring the Titan and sizing up to a 2500. Have owned Ford, Dodge, Toyota and Nissans... Never owned a Chevy... Just need some good and bad reviews before I commit to about 50K of new debt...

Thanks!

i personnally think that the F-250's look much better than the 2500 chevy's. i drive chevy but my next truck will def. be a F-250 and i don't hold anything against chevy. performance is probablly what and what, but if i'm going to spend 50 grand, i'm going to want to like what i see sitting in the driveway. i also perfer for's interior to the chevy but again, all this is is preference.

Ive had Ford and Chevy and both are good trucks, but I prefer the Chevy more. To me looks dont matter, its how she works. My chevy drives and rides smoother and pulls the boats better. I got 100k out of the ford before the trans went out, I got 130k on the chevy and she still pulls like the day I got her. Gonna get mixed reviews on this one, but both are good trucks. However with the current situation involving bailouts ect... I do admire Ford on how they handled themselves and that might possibly(along with the deal I was to get) affect my decision if I was in your shoes. GO with what you want, and the dealer that treats you the best.

oh buddy you just opened up a can of worms!

I own an '02 2500hd (gas guzzler) with 180,000 miles...my father owns 3 heavy duty models ranging from a '95 to an '06. Two of these have close to 200,000 miles. The reason we have a yard full of chevy's is cuz we've both owned f-250's and I once made the mistake of buying a dodge. Temporary lapse of judgement. Chevys may not have the highest tow rating, blah blah blah, but they last. The diesels get good fuel mileage and are a great engine, backed with an even better transmission. The gas engines aren't great on fuel, but what do you expect from a big V8 in a 6,000-lb vehicle. In the early 2000 models, chevy's had the lowest-rated interiors of all domestic trucks but I think they've made some pretty good upgrades as the newer interiors seem much better in design. Chevy's do, however, have one of the highest ranked drivetrains (if not THE highest ranked). They're a good truck, in my opinion...as soon as I get the money together, I'll be gettin one! 8)

Chevy. Mine'll run a hole in the wind. I like the GMC more actually. Just on a looks basis. The 2500HD is a tough lookin truck but I hate to have a truck weigh that much, esp when I don't have much than needs a 2500 to pull.

If you're gonna be pulling anything Chevy hands down. My dad's will pull our 40 ft. gooseneck loaded down without a problem. His truck has 279,000 miles on it still running strong. My bro's father in law's F-250 is coughin and chokin to get it going. However if your not gonna be pulling anything, the Ford has more room inside.

ok i have had them both and dont go with how many miles someone has on a truck b/c # 1 diesel are supposed to be able to last a long time if oil is changed every 3to 5 thousand. ford had a great truck with the 7.3 they changed and went down hill. chevy has that allison trans and you cant go wrong there. chevy does get good mpg unless you load it down the its like all others its gonna drink it down. The government is not gonna let GM go under so dont let that effect your choice. reason why is most gov cars or trucks are ford or chevy. neither one is going under. I personaly would go with the chevy B/C they have not messed with there engine at all over the past few years ford has change 3 times in 6 years so just my 2 cents

I got an 01 Ford with the 7.3 and it will pull the bend out of a river,I pull 13,000lbs on a regular baseies no problem and I'm in the hill's.The new ford's don't hold a candel to the 7.3 but I like the inside of the Ford's better than the Chevy's.Have a buddy that trades every 2yrs he went from a 7.3 Ford to a 2500 Chevy went back to Ford this yr he farm's and said the Chevy just would'nt hang with the Ford but have not heard him say how the new Ford is working out.Plus I think the Ford look's better, just a big ol man looking truck.

I saw them replacing the turbo on an 08 powerstroke and had to take the cab off. Thats all I need to know. Think about having one with no warranty and having to pay to get the turbo replaced. Ford told the ol boy tuff shat he was 10k over the warranty, he traded it on a new duramax. Mechanic said they were the tuffest cab bolts he ever saw though! They used lock tight to set them.

I will prob get ripped on this one but anyway I like dodge I am on my 2nd one. I do not have a 3/4 ton cause I can pull anything short of a one story home with the 6.0 Hemi in my truck. It is a 1500 HD so it is a lil beefier than a standard 1500. I owned a '99 single cab 4x4 up till two years ago that when I traded in it showed 275,000 miles and the odo didn't work for three years. My grandfather has a '94 2500 with the Cummins in it it has 300,000 on it and has pulled a travel trailer cross country several times, he had to replace the trans bout three years ago when a deer he hit cracked the bell housing. I have had good luck out of Dodge others hate em, gotta go with what you like your the one paying the note on it. Plus with the programmer upgrades you can get a gas can pull dang near what a diesel can pull and it don't cost a buck 50 every oil change. My 2 cents. Between Ford or Chevy I would prob go with Ford they look better and have more torque.

Trucks are what you make them. If you abuse them, they die. If you keep up maintainence on them they last. I buy fords but my company work truck is a chevy that has a bad fuel pump. Its got just south 170k on it. My personal ford has almost 140k on it. I drive either one to california and back and not sweat it.

I have a dodge and it's a diesel and will pull anything I hook it to. If you look at a dodge or ford get a standard transmission. with at lease 3.73 gears 4.10 if your really pulling heavy loads. Might even want to consider 4.56. But the deeper the gears the less fuel economy you will get. I don't think chevy or ford can match the performance of the Cummings,
