ruffandtuff UTV

Postby nipntuck » Wed Oct 07, 2009 8:31 pm

Anyone have one? If so, your opinion? If you recommend a different one, do you know if it qualifies for the tax deduction? Thanks.

A myth -- at least I think.

Haha. Hang on. There may be some truth to it. See here http://www.sunherald.com/business/story/1601155.html

Lenox said the tax credit applies to certified low-speed vehicles that are equipped to be street legal. The qualifying models he carries by Ruff & Tuff and Tomberlin have headlights, seat belts, turn signals, brake lights and a speedometer to make them street-ready. The purchaser doesn’t need to get a license plate, inspection and insurance to get the tax credit, he said, but the cart must be able to go at least 21 miles per hour but not more than 25 mph. It can be driven on secondary roads where the speed limit is 35 or less.

Me and my dad were looking around yesterday and talking to some people about them and apparently the Stealth LSV fits the program for a $5800 tax credit, but the thing cost almost $15k. It had to meet several different requirements to fit into the program and no "golf carts" make the cut is what I was told. It has to be a street legal manufactured low speed vehicle with blinkers and the whole 9 yds.

From the Tomberlin Anvil website:

NOW IS THE TIME TO BUY AN ANVIL
$16,400 (suggested retail) - 10% (federal tax credit) = $14,760 (your cost)

The Government is GIVING YOU MONEY to PURCHASE AN ANVIL. In their own words:
”Plug-in electric vehicles also qualify for a tax credit starting January 1, 2010. The credit for passenger vehicles and light trucks ranges from $2,500 to $7,500, depending on battery capacity.” --Department of Energy

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 signed by President Obama in February extends many consumer tax incentives for taxpayers who purchase Low Speed Vehicles.

We’re not tax lawyers, but we know there’s a savings here for you. By most reasonable calculations, and we’re going for the conservative side, there’s a tax credit of 10% of the buyer’s cost up to a $2,500.00 maximum, good on any ANVIL purchased by December 31, 2010.

PLEASE. Check with your tax advisor on specifics of the benefits for you. We can tell you about ELECTRIC EXCITEMENT and the ANVIL, but the tax code makes our eyes cross.
