As dumb as it may sound, I am trying to figure out a way to get in a tree this weekend. No bow = thinking of borrowing a camera and doing a little videoing while my brother brings in the new season.

I have the camera, clothes, and stand/blind. I also have developed a bad case of the shakes and am needing something to assist me as I watch over my brothers shoulder. I know, you can purchase one but I can't justify it or afford it . So, is there anything that ya'll can think of that I could build or even use for a camera arm?

I'm open to all ideas. If there is something ya'll used before you purchased one or have any ideas post them up! I have some medal scraps, some wood, just trying to get some ideas.

well....If it didn't have to be for this weekend, I have one that I will give to you.... the only problem is, it's in MO at my parents house, I think.......if I can catch my mom at home tomorrow I will get her to look for me, if you're interested in having it for the rest of the season......

In a pinch though...take your tripod (assuming you have one) sit in your stand and extend the legs to where you can film comfortably. Instead of spreading them out just keep em together....you will be able to rotate the entire set up and work the arm if need be..... When we were back in highschool filming a bunch of deer hunts we used a camera arm that a buddy had fabricated.....he couldnt afford aluminum, so the thing was made out of about 1 1/4 inch square tubing.....dang thing must have weighed 30 lbs. We quit carrying it after a few hunts and just filmed from the shoulder.....but we were also running a Cannon XL2......probably a bit bigger than what you will be using (i.e. more steady....not saying your camera is crap or anything)

I use a window mount... I just made a small barket that went between the screws on the arm rest then just mount the window mount to it...? works..

Try a gorillapod. It's a twisty flexible tripod that you can bend around a tree limb or whatever and has a camera mount on one end. Great for outdoor shots, wallyworld usually has 'em for like $15.
