Need some ideas on bedding material for winter (i.e. pinestraw, hay, etc.)
Old blanket or comforter would be ideal........but we all know how that story ends

Cedar Chips mixed with straw are the best IMO...

Re: Doghouse bedding
I'd say hay as well, but clean it out every now and then, and remember to get rid of it in early spring to keep the fleas and ticks out. Fleas love that stuff when it gets warm enough

That is what the Cedar chips are for. I was told that the oil in the cedar will keep fleas away????

What about stall (horse) shavings, you pick them up at most farm supply stores. They are a little dusty but inexpensive n easy to clean....just an idea I haven't tried this with dogs only the horses obviously.

This is what I used and will be using again this winter. It works great.
You don't have to use it all at one time, I just kept it in the box it came in and changed it out throughtout the winter.

I like hay, but there is an off chance that their will be mold present that can give you problems. Make sure it is a fresh bale and like someone mentioned before, change it regularly.
Are we gonna get wet?
