Rebels game ....your thoughts

Typical first game bugs.they looked like utter crap in the first half. Because they have a great coach and may be a good ball team, they put a miserable first half performance behind them and came out and looked like a top 25 team. Wish they would have been playing Ohio State , they could beat them. My 2 cents

i strongly disagree they are not a top 25 team. put them up to an texas or flordia this year and they will not hold a candle in the wind. they have 22 good guys ( not great ) but have no depth after that if someone gets hurt coach has already said they will struggle and has little faith. they will win some games but not the big ones and yes they will be bowling at the end but not big only giving them 6-6 at best. not gonna be lsu, alabama, vandy, arky, tenn and they might i mean might be south carolina. i do wish them well but not looking to good and I THINK (MY OPINION) THEY SHOULD HAVE WAITED TO NEXT YEAR TO PROMOTE SNEAD FOR HISEMAN HE IS NOT AS GOOD AS TEBOW, MCCOY, OR THE GUY FROM CALI BEARS THE RUNNING BACK. I HATE BRADFORD GOT HURT THAT HURT HIS CHANCE I THINK BUT SNEAD IS NOT THE MAN AND TO MUCH HYPE FOR HIM)

Dude I can tell you are not a fan but dang. It was not that grim by any means. The offensive line needs to grow up fast. The defense looked pretty good but it was still the first game. They will grow from this and now have a week off to go work on some stuff and do not have a real game until sept 24 against South Carolina. They do have some time to get better but 6-6 with that schedule will not be in a bowl

What's typical for a first game? I ttypical was scoring on every drive 8) and completing 77% of your passes for the game.

I see Jevon is making stides in his pursuit to unseed Tebow from top of the Heisman hill. I thought that 3rd down timeout followed by a draw was innovative. I really liked the 7 yard pass call on 3rd and longs. Ole Miss whipped an awfully good Memphis team. Nutt is BCS bound.

Turkeyman,

I didn't watch the UM game, however I did watch the LSU game. Unless LSU gets better in every aspect of the game they are gonna have trouble with a DIV. II team.

You would have never known that team was 0-12. Man, I'm telling you CornDogs now, ya'll should have pushed his ass to Michigan and get rid rid of him ASAP your your back to average even with all that talent mode again.

Want to put a little more than 2 cents on that 6-6 prediction.

i figure snead will get better with time..the final score makes one thing ole miss beat the crap outta memphis...but they didn't...it wasn't until the last quarter ole miss started hitting on a few cylinders...memphis was still hanging in there until then....snead should have thrown 3 int, instead of the 2....they didn't look like the #8 team in the nation by any means.....

It was just the first game of the season, give them a break. Any win is precious!

One thing is Memphis always plays us like it is their bowl game. They get up really big time for this game. Ole miss has a lot of rust to shake before beating a team like ALabama or Florida.

Sorry, but I will never fuss about a 30 plus point win on the road. First and foremost, it was a W against a pretty good Memphis team ---- one that will likely be in a bowl game once again at the end of this season --- one that always plays us hard like it is their superbowl ---- and one that features some very good skill position players, including two of the best (and tallest) receivers in the country.

Yes, the Rebels sputtered some in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. And yes, we had some early season, first game jitters (as most every team I watched this weekend exhibited in some form or the other). But, give credit to Memphis for making some nice defensive adjustments ---eg loading 8 in the box to stop the run after we jumped out with a 10-0 lead ---they recognized that Snead was not "on" and that our running game was carrying us early.

The 21 points Ole Miss scored during the last 6-7 minutes of the game ---after stopping Memphis on a critical fourth and one play at midfield --- was during regulation time of the game and counts just like the points scored earlier in the game. And our defense contributed with some points of their own, in addition to making some big plays to set up the offense on multiple occasions with good field position. It is legal to use your defense in such a manner. It doesn't always have to be the offense leading the charge.

I was impressed with our defense (except for a few missed tackles), expecially the DBs and DL (our LBs need some more work). Powe was a beast and will only get better and better. On offense, while sputtering at times, we made some nice runs and pass plays. The OL was ok for a first game, but needs to improve. The WRs and Snead need to get more on the same page with their timing. Snead needs to stop forcing things, and just let the game come to him. He did this in the second half and looked much better than he did in the first half. The kicking game looked solid in all particulars --- very good kickoffs (by our freshman Ritter), good placekicking, good punting, good coverage, and a couple of nice returns --- no fumbled returns. All in all, a decent first game performance that resulted in a W.

We have an upcoming open date and then a home game against a directional La school to use to get better and get everyone fully healed (Hardy, etc.) before our first SEC game against South Carolina. I think we are going to be ready for the fighting cocks.

I truly believe Ohio Stae played the worst game I have seen a top 10 school play since Appalachian State beat Michigan a few years back. Navy is one of only a few teams in Division 1 that could have given that game away. Ohio State sucks.
USC will blow them out this weekend!!
