Beware of Grand Cherokees

Postby Sambo » Thu Jul 05, 2001 4:38 pm

WORDS of WARNING: The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has begun an investigation of possible problems with the transmission in 1995-1999 Grand Cherokees. It appears that the transmission "pops" out of park and into reverse without warning. When this occurs, the vehicle is normally ideling in park, but it has occurred when the ignition has been turned off. I have heard of one case over here in Alabama. I have a 1998 and have had some transmission problems but nothing that appears to be related.

Suggestion: Always use your emergency brake.

The following is a link in the L.A. Times that explains the investigation www.latimes.com/news/nation/20010704/t000055078.html
