Need Help Pricing Truck

Postby Ole Goat » Mon Aug 24, 2009 4:27 pm

I haven't sold a vehicle privately before, and was hoping for some input on a "fair" price (I am asking here since the classifieds aren't really for discussion). By "fair" I mean that I don't want to give it away, but I also don't want to do a lot of haggling. It does have some damage on the right-rear quarter panel where I scraped a column in a parking garage. Otherwise, it is in good shape. 99% of the miles are highway. Anyway, I figured getting some input would be better than just asking people to make offers. KBB says $7,800 in good condition / $7,125 in fair condition. What are y'alls thoughts?

No expert, but im thinking you wont see $7K. More like $4,500 or 5K, especially with the body damage. Just a stab thou.

How much would it cost to fix or replace the bed? I'd deduct that from the KBB value.

KBB is worthless in these times. look on ebay and see what comparable trucks are selling for . ask $500 more and be ready to deal. If i were guesing i would say $4000 tops.

+1. with only 122k miles she's got plenty of life left in her. The column scratch is going to kill your price.

You could probably pop that fender out and buff a bunch of those scrathes out and then I would start at about $6,500.

its easier to come down than up on price... i'm with wink... start at $6500 and buff the scratches... dont pull dent as that could cost you a whole panel...

I agree - I think it's got a good many miles left in it. Problem is, I got two that are pid for, so noe of 'em has to go.

I just sold my dad's 00 z71 1500 for $5000. It had 248,000 miles on it. It had a few minor scrathes on it but besides that it was great. hope this helps.
