i have looked on the web and founds tons of information but its so much to digest. Trykon and i have sent a few messages back and forth about running Bella and im interested.

What exactly is expected of her and me. U understand the points and that points add up to titles. If you pass Sat i assume you run Sun? i know these are newbie questions but im a newbie to the game.

Started test is really simple, if your pup can run out and pick up a bird and bring it back, go run. Bird is probably gonna be belly up 90% of the time.

by chance
The started hunting retriever is judged for its natural marking ability. It is expected to track the bird in the air as it is thrown. It is expected to proceed immediately to the area of the fall and establish a hunt in order to find the bird. It is expected to retrieve the bird and deliver it back to the immediate area of the handler. In nearly every case, the started hunting retirever will be held by its handler and a gunner will shoot the bird instead of the handler.
A started hunting retriever must accumulate ten champiopnship points and an additional ten points, for a total of twenty, to achieve the title of Started Hunting Retriever. Five points are given for each successful passing day. To accumulate twenty points, the started hunting retirever must pass four started tests. This will equal a total of four days of testing.

I ran my dog Rayne in started last weekend in Central La. The only problems I saw any dogs having is picking up ducks. Spend a couple days with birds if you haven't already. Very easy test go and enjoy yourself. BTW we brought home our first 2 ribbons!!

The gist is correct, but the points are wrong. a dog get 5 points per pass, 2 passes is 10 championship points. No more championship points can come from started. so the other 2 passes are for the started title. 40 for an hr (no more than 10 from started) and 100 for a hrch (10 from started, max of 40 from started and seasoned). you can run all you want at any level you want, but championship points only count for the max # allowed per catergory per your hrch, or 500 point clubs. travis

4 days of passes = 20 pts and a SHR title, but only 10 of those points can count towards a HR title.
How many pts does a Seasoned pass count for?

So a HR title could be earned in 3 days of testing, if you had completed 4 days of testing at the Started level?

TWO days of testing at Started level. You only need to complete the 4 days if you're going for a Started TITLE. (20 points total)

So, for a HR title:

2 passes at Started (5 pts x 2 = 10 points that can carry over)
Plus 3 Seasoned passes (10 x 3 = 30 points)

10 Started points + 30 Seasoned points = 40 points for HR title

any combonation will work... but at least 30 of the points for an hr have to come from seasoned or finished... and at least 60 of the points for a hrch from finished (15 points a pass). upland passes are 10, and it tkaes 4 for a uh, those points count toward 500, but not toward an hrch. travis
